Ferrari 550 Maranello

Enzo's Philosophy

“The horse should always pull the cart”

According to Enzo Ferrari, the engine of his cars should be positioned at the front, but since the 365GT4/BB, no flagship had been launched with the engine in this location. Former Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo spoke clearly to his design team: the new 550 must use the chassis of the 456, with the engine from the F355 as the foundation. It should provide a balance between the comfort of the 456 and the performance of the F355, leaning towards superior performance.

Daily Driver for the Rich & Famous

Ferrari 550 Maranello in “Grigio Titanio”

The 65-degree V12 from the 456 received upgrades to its intake and exhaust, boasting a remarkable 485hp and 570Nm of torque for its time. Formula 1 technology was incorporated into the traction system, and the car featured adaptable damping and a sport mode.

Pininfarina handled the styling, which was somewhat more understated compared to the Testarossa, yet clearly reflected Di Montezelomo's ambition to create a daily vehicle for the 'rich & famous.'

The owner of this stunning 550 wanted to give the car a rejuvenation, and thus we steam cleaned the engine and refreshed the paint. The leather seats showed signs of wear on the bolsters, and our skilled detailers recolored them to ensure the leather can withstand many more years. Additionally, cracks and damages in the black trim along the bottom of the car were repaired and repainted by us. This 'Prancing Horse' is eager to stretch its legs.
